We welcome back Tom Boxell our Australian overseas opening bat, who after a solid season last year, has hit the ground running with a fine 83 not Out in his first match, our second, as he missed our loss to Ilkley on the opening day of the season with a nasty virus which delayed his arrival.
We also welcome back Martin Kellaway as vice-captain, he will give the side much experience with his batting and wicket keeping.
Simon Taylor from Spofforth (Ex Bilton/Follifoot) opening the bowling his experience will be invaluable to the plethora of young junior bowling talent.
Finally James Burnett an all rounder has joined us from Wardley in the Birmingham Premier League, we wish them all well.
On the pitch we did not get enough runs in our first match against Ilkley due to a middle order collapse, but showed good fight in the second half & we can take many positives from this, however we lost by 5 wickets. Tong Park Esholt we restricted them to 192 for 7 on a reasonable wicket, Tom Boxell and Barry Singleton got us off to a fine start, Tom guiding us home by 7 wickets with good contributions from Rob Winter & Jack Burke.
Hopefully this summer will be drier & we can entertain our supporters with some good performances, and maybe some silverware. Rob
